Robert Raponja is a stage director and theatre pedagogue. He graduated Stage Directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. As a stage director he has worked in all theatre centres in Croatia, as well as in Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Hungary, Italy and Romania. He is one of the founders of the International Theatre Festival for the Youth (MKFM) in Pula and the International Festival of Theatre Academies – Dionysus in Osijek. He has become well-known both for staging big theatre-musical performances such as Tanac od mrtvih [Dance of the Dead] by D. Načinović, Regnum novum by D. Lukić, Pulisej by B. Senker and Valigaštar by D. Milohanić as well as for being one of the first Croatian stage directors who has staged dramatic works written by the Croatian contemporary playwrights such as B. Senker, M. Gavran, T. Šuput, M. Brumec, D. Lukić and M. Nola. He has been awarded for his artistic achievements as a stage director. He works at the Academy of Arts in Osijek as a full professor and vice-rector for culture at the University of Josip J. Strossmayer in Osijek.
